NO RATES OUTSTANDING.
MARTINBOROUGHi COUNCIL. CONGRATULATIONS TO CLERK. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.'] MASTERTON, Thursday. For the last 23 years Mr. F. McAllum, clerk of tho Martinborough Borough Council, has had a "clean sheet" for outstanding rates. Tho only sum written off during that period was 2s 6d, a penalty on rates overdue. 1
This unusual and satisfactory positioo was commented on at tho last hieeting of the council, when it was reported that all outstanding rates for the last year had been collected and the balance-sheets had been returned from the Audit Department with no tags attached. The Mayor and members expressed pleasure at the financial position and complimented tho clerk on tho achievement of such results.
