FIRST RACE MEETING.
LLOYD GEORGE'S EXCURSION. VISITOR TO NEWMARKET. (Received October IS. 6.5 p.m.) British Wireless. RUGBY. Oct. 17 Mr. Lloyd George, Leader of the Liberal Party, today attended a race meeting for the first time in his life, lie was staying near Newmarket as ihe guest of Viscount St. Davids, and took the opportunity of going with his host to see the Cesarewitch.
Mr. George showed great; interest in the proceedings, both in the paddock and on the racecourse. He declined to make a bet though many bookmakers were willing to give hint generous odds. In a clut with journalists, Mr. George, defended his presence on the racecourse by saying that he believed anything which played so great a part in the social life of the nation as did horse racing demanded liis attention.
