BRITISH SCIENTIFIC PARTIES. (Received October 18, 0.5 p.m.) British Wireless. HUG BY, Oct. 17. Four British scientists hav« been appointed by the joint permanent committer; of the Royal Society and the Royal Astronomical Society to take observations in the. Malay Peninsula and Siarn rliiriim the total eclipse of the sun on May 9. 1929. The scientists will sail from Finland in February. One party will establish its headquarters at Aim. in the Malay Mate < >t Kediih. The other will establish its base near Fat ani, in Sin in. Attempts will be made during the eclipse to measure the temperatures and the pressures of I lie gases round the sun. also to lake important spectroscopic observations. It is anticipated that the Einstein theory of relativity will be reaffirmed by what is known as the astronomical tes.t. .
