BRITAIN AND FRANCE.

COMPROMISE DISCLOSURE. FOREIGN OFFICE SURPRISE. MILITARY SIDE DISCUSSED. Australian Tress Association—United Service (Received October 6. 5.5 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 5. The Foreign Office regards the disclosures made by tiie Echo de Paris as inexplicable. The leakage appeal's to havo been a substantially accurate summary of the Anglo-French naval negotiations, but its publication does not affect the British view as to the proper time for the issue of tlio documents, about which negotiations are now in train. Commenting on the disclosures, the diplomatic correspondent of the Daily Telegraph observes that it will be seen that the French military authorities were also concerned in discussions, which must havo been conducted simultaneously. The most striking fealuro of the correspondence, says tlio correspoudent, is that the British Government's acquiescence in the French standpoint on the question of a military reservo was an integral part of the naval agreement —not a separate, independent and unconditional concession. It is gratifying, as we aro in the presence of a bargain, that there should be no valid reason why the military side of the agreement should stand now that America's opposition has killed the naval side of it.
