SAVAGE CLUB.
GOVERNOR-GENERAL'S VISIT. Honoured by the presence of tho Gov-ernor-General, Sir Charles Fergusson, members of the Auckland Savage Club gathered in large numbers afc a korero held at the Lewis Eady hall on Saturi day evening. His Excellency was welcomed by the rangitira, Dr. W. H. ' Parkes, and was received according to the rites of the club. In virtue of his office as ariki, His Excellency presided over the 1 gathering. There were a number of official guests, including members of His Excellency's staff, Archbishop Averill, Sir Walter Stringer, Mr. Justice MacGregor, Mr. Justice Blair, the Mayor, Mr. G. Baildon, tho town clerk, Mr; J S. Brigham, Mr. E. C. Cutten, S.M., Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M., Mr. J. S. Barton, S.M., chairman of the Transport Commission. Mr. W. G. T. Goodman, and Mr. A. Edward, members of tho commission. The programme of entertainment included items by Messrs. William Heughan, F. Sutherland, B. O'Matley, S. Bishop, and A. McElwain, and Findlay'a brass quartet. i •
