FRANCS CASE SEQUEL.
MR. O'MALLEY REINSTATED. I LOSS OF SENIORITY ONLY. (Received April 26, 5.45 p.m.) British Wireless. RUGBY, April 25. The Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Sir Austen Chamberlain, said in the House of Commons that he had received some time ago an appeal for consideration from Mr. Owen O'Malley, who had resigned from the Diplomatic Service in accordance with the findings of the committee which had considered the evidence given in the High Court in what is known as the francs case.
After full consideration, Sir Austen said, he had decided, with the approval of the Prime Minister, Mr. Baldwin, to give effect to that appeal. Mr. O'Malley's resignation would not therefore be accepted by him, but Mr. O'Malley would lose five years' seniority.
