SHORTAGE OF TRUCKS.

HUNTLY MINES AFFECTED. SHORT TIME NECESSITATED. NORMAL CONDITIONS TO-DAY. [BT TELEGRAPH. OWN CORRESPONDENT. J HUNTLY. Thursday. Collieries at Huntly were obliged to close down at 3 p.m. to-day on account of an acute shortage of coal trucks. The Glen Afton Colliery, which works full time all the year round, was not affected, and continued to work a full day. The secretary of the Taupiri Coal Mines, one of the collieries affected, stated yesterday that a similar shortage caused a cessation of work at noon on Tuesday and on two occasions last week short time was worked for the same reason.

Inquiry at the transport office of the Railway Department at Auckland indicated that the shortage was of a temporary nature, and conditions would be normal again to-day.
