The chief event was the womon's doubles final, in which Misses Knight and Clouston (Auckland) defeated Misses N. and M. Beverley (Matamata), 6 —4, 6—4, after an exciting contest. Other finals played were the handicap doubles, in which Thomas and McCracken (Hamilton) defeated James and Bush (Te Aroha), 6—4, 6—l, and the women's handicap doubles, in which Misses Knight and Clouston. (Auckland) defeated Misses N. and M. Beverley (Matamata), 6—l. 5—7. 7—5. CHALLENGE MATCH AT MATATA. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] MATATA, Monday. The final tenniß match of the season was played at Matata on Saturday for the Lees Cup, between Matatb, (holders) and Wai mana. It ended in a win for the holders by 15 set 3to 4. The scores were. Matata names being mentioned first:— Men's Singles.—P. Howell beat N. Menzies, 9—4; E. Howell beat J. Wardlaw, 9—B; R. Lees beat T. Wardlaw, 9—l; R. Wilson beat W. Rickerby, 9—3; G. Creeke beat M. King, 9—l; F. Burt beat C. Cranswick, 9—3.

Ladies' Singles.—Mrs. Mikkelsen lost to Mrs. King, 5—7; Miss Minarapa beat Miss Mengaa, 7—4; Mrs. Harris beat Mrs. Hewitt, 7—2; Miss P. Burt lost to Mrs. Cranswick, 2—7.

Men's Doubles.—Howell and Howell beat Menses and J. Wardlaw, 9—5; Lees and Creeke beat T. Wardlaw and Cranswick, 9—5; Wilson and Burt beat Rickerby and Kins* 3—o. Ladies' Doubles.—Mesdames Miktelaen and Harris lost to Mrs. King and Miss Menges, 2—7; Misses Burt and Minarapa beat Mesdarnes Hewitt and Cranswick. 7—2. Combined Doubles.—E. Howell and Miss Minarapa beat Menges and Miss Menses, P; Howell and Mrs. Mikkelsen beat King and Mrs. King, 9—4; Creeke and Mrs. Harris beat J. Wardlaw and Mrs. Hewitt, 9—6; Lees and Miss Burt lost to Cranswick and Mrs. Cranswick, 3—9.
