In the Thames Cricket Association's competition on Saturday Ramblers made a very poor showing against Karaka, and were defeated by an innings and 132 runs. Tararti secured a three-point win against High School by 123 runs on the first innings. A feature of the day was R, Buchan's meritorious century for Karaka, the first of the season Notable batting performances were R, Buchan (Karaka). 104, retired; Anderson (Tararu), 35. The best bowling performances were J. Buchan (Karaka). six wickets fori run: A Brokenshire (Karaka) sis for 4; K. Dare (Tararuj, sis for 9 and three for 9: R. J NGATEA, Monday. In the fourth round of the Hauraki Plains Cricket Association's competition Pipiroa- defeated Orougo by an innings and 39 runs, and Turua. 186, beat Kopurahi, 79, by 107 runs on th«> first innings. Wnitakaruru secured a two-point win against Kaihere. The best individual performance of the afternoon was a scoro of 93 not out by Macklow (Turua). GAME AT OPOTIKI. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] OPOTIKI, Monday, A cricket match between Opotiki High School and Old Boys resulted in an easy win for the High School team by nine wickets. Old Boys' first innings yielded 61 and the second innings 71. High School made 123 in the first innings and II for one wicket in the second. The highest scorer for Old Boys was Shaifoon. with 20, and for High School Jessop, 58. retired. DARGAVILLE COMPETITIONS. [BJ TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] j DARGAVILLE. Monday. Tlx? cricket competitions were continued ! op Saturday in perfect weather. Dargaville played Te Kopuna at Dargaville. and Pukehuia A played Pukehuia B at Pukehuia. The Dargaville-Te Kopurti game provided an exciting finish. Te Kopuru made 62 in the innings, and Dargaville 59. The latter had three wickets in hand and seven runs to make to win. but failed by three runs Switser and Game were the bpst scorers for Te Kopuru, and Sandberg, Wells and Rush for Dargaville. Switzer and Doyle obtained most wicket® for Te Kopurti. while for Dargaville the most successful bowiers irere Sandberg. Parore and Rush. Pukehuia A, 55 and P9 for one wicket, bent Pukehuia B, 45 and 34. Dargaville still holds the lead in the competition, with the other three teams on even terms.
