RACING AT MANGERE. TWO EVENTS DECIDED. The weather conditions for the cycling rai-fs at. Mangero on Saturday wero not conducive to fast times A strong wind blew all the afternoon, making matters very unpleasant for solo riders. Once again the limit division: wen both events. In the junior race the winner rode alone for the whole five and a-half piiles, winning by 200 yds. in the eleven-miles open handicap a splendid rare was witnessed. The frontmarkers, B. Gardiner and L. Welsh, who ran first and second, scored their first success this season. They rode a hard race, making every use of their very liberal handicap. M. P. Byrnes, scratch, rodo a very fast first lap, 14m 265, in trying to pick up the field, but he could not sight it. Following are the results: — Five and a-half Miles Junior Handicap.— A. Reed, 4Jm 1; E. Canard, 3m 455. 2; E. Hall, 3m 30s, 3. Time. 19m 10s. Fastest time, A. Sercombe, 16m 25 3-5s Eight started. There was a good muster of riders and sonio fine racing was witnessed. The riding of H. Pelham was the feature of_ the afternoon's racing. He started three times and won on each occasion.
