NEW HARBOUR LOANS.
TOTAL OF £150,000 PROPOBED. MONEY FOR PROGRAMME WORKS < redemption of old issue. Tho bora-owing of a further £IOO,OOO is contemplated by the Auckland Harbour Board for the carrying on of harbour works in accordance 'with programme. The question of applying to the Local Government Loans Board for consent to the proposal will be considered at a special meeting later in the month. The amount forms part of ths £1,000,000 loan proposal of 1924, of which £250,000 has been raised. The loan account expenditure proposed by the board for the current year totals £147,568, but portion of this work will be financed out of the general account. In addition to the sum of £IOO,OOO, it is proposed to borrow £50,000 for the redemption of the £IOO,OOO loan of 1904, which matures on January 10 next. Of the balance required, the accrued sinking fund will provide £37,800, and £11,200 will be drawn from revenue.
