ROTORUA TOURNAMENT. DEFEAT OF H. B. LUSK. REX GEORGE TO PLAY PLUMLEY. [By TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. 3 ROTORUA. Thursday. For the third day of the Rotorua open golf tournament the weather was fine and clear, and the links played well. In the semi-final of the championship Rex George beat H. B. Lusk, 1 up, and H. Plumley beat G. E. Carr, 7 and 6. The match between Lusk and George was a really fine exhibition. Both men playing par golf, and was won only on the final putt. There was a large following to watch this match. Geoige's card of 73 read:— Out :44455 2 54 4—37 In: 544 2 5444 4—36 Lusk went round in 74, hia card reading:— Out: 44365353 3—36 In: 54434553 5—3S Plumley played almost perfect golf agaiast Car, and was never off the fairway. Carr played a good game, but was not equal to Uis opponent. The final for the championship will be played to-morrow morning over 36 holes, play starting at 9.00, and, the form shown by plumley and Rex George, the match should prove very close. The semi-final for the junior cup resulted:—C. P. Howden beat C. G. Johnson, 6 and 4; P. C. Niccolls beat E. Griffiths, 2 up. The final will be played to-morrow. A Smith, Richardson v. I. Piatt. G. Page v. McEntee. These games are to be concluded before September 26.
