AMALGAMATION PROPOSAL.
BIRKENHEAD - NORTHCOTE. "TIME MORE THAN OVERDUE." The Birkenhead Borough Council last evening unanimously decided to intimate to the Northcote Borough Council that it did not consider the time was opportune for the union of the four North Shore boroughs, but that tlie time was more than overdue when the amalgamation of the Birkenhead and Northcote Boroughs should be effected. The resolution, which was moved by the Mayor, Mr. E. G. Skeates. and seconded by Mr. A. Hadfield, was the outcome of a communication from the Northcote Borough Council sent with the object of ascertaining whether it was considered advisable to discuss the amalgamation of all the North Shore districts, or any of them
