HATS AND COATS MISSING.
DISCOVERY AT CHURCH. ' ARRESTS MADE BY POLICE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT. 1 TE AWAMUTU, Tuesday. After the evening service a» St. John's Church on Sunday it was discovered that four felt hats, two overcoats, a pair of motor gauntlets and an electric torch, which had been left in the porch by members of the congregation, were missing. At first it was thought someone was playing a foolish joke, but as the missing goods were not forthcoming it was decided to place the matter in the hands of the police. As the result of investigations by Constable Doyle, of Te Awamutu, Constable Cleary, of Cambridge, and Constable Hooker, two young men who gave their names as Kenneth David Murray and Charles Leonard Busst were arrested at a rabbiters' camp at Roto-o-rangi. Both men were brought into Te Awamutu by Constables Doyle and Hooker. Constable Cleary remained at the rabbiters' camp and later arrested a third member of the party on a charge of receiving stolen property.
This morning Murray and Busst were brought before Mr. W. Jeffery, J.P., in the Te Awamutu Police Court and on the application of Constable Doyle were remanded until rext Tuesday.
