NEW FARMERS' PARTY.
THE UNION APPROACHED. REMITS TO THE CONFERENCE. Two remits demanding that the New Zealand Farmers' Union should take political action in the interests of the farming community are to be considered at the conference of delegates from the Auckland district, to be held at, Whangarei on Tuesday, May 24. Questioned yesterday; regarding the nature of the action contemplated, Mr. A.. E. Robinson, secretary of the Auckland Provincial Union, said that if the remits were put into effect the New. Zealand Farmers' Union "would practically be formed into a political party. However, before that could come about, one of the remits wouid" have to be carried by the Whangarei conference and adopted by the Dominion conference, which would probably be held in Wellington in July. One remit was from the Bay of Islands Union.
The Whangarei conference might also consider the platform of the Country Party fonned prior to the kst general election, with a view to its amendment and adoption for the proposed new party.
