A woman in New Zealand recently received two cablegrams purporting to have been sent her by a son now resident in New South Wales, says the Sydney Morning Herald. The cablegrams, according to a story told at the'.:Sydney detective 'office last week, stated ,that the son had been given building contracts at Canberra, and required various sums of money. .

The money was sent. Then the woman b*gan to have her doubts. A message was sent to the New South Wales police, and a detective was instructed to investigate. After inspecting the signatures to the cablegrams he .began inquiries, and arrested a man.
