BOWLING.

THE EASTER FOURS FINAL. EPSOM DEFEATS CARLTON. DECISION ON LAST HEAD. There was a large attendance of bowline; entluisiasta at the Remuera green oil Saturday afternoon, when the final of the Easter fours championship wa3 played between Lamb, Grattan, Wilkinson, do Launay (Epsom), and Bates, Josey, Mantell. Laurenson (Carlton). The green was in excellent order notwithstanding the heavy rait, during the week, and after a keenlyfought contest, do Launay won by two points. When the two skips went down for the last head the score was 16 all. and great interest was taken by the crowd. However, the match was by no means spectacular. It savoured of careful play for the most part. and. as the result showed, there was practically no difference between the two rinks. In the first three heads both rinks played carefully, and quickly ascertained the strength of the green. Wilkinson ran close to the jack in the fourth but Laurenson drew two fine shots and took the lead, 5—2. Wilkin=on was playing particularly well at this stage and lay shot for Epsom in the fifth head. Laurenson failed to take out the counter, but he drove the jack near the ditch into Epsom's timber. A nice shot, jack high, gave de Launay two, aiul the scoro stood ill favour of Carlton by one point. 11l the sixth and eeventh lieads, the "rinks continued to display caution, but Carlton lielcl the upper hand and led V—4. De Launav improved his tally hy one in the eighth, hut Laurenson again placed himself two ahead in the ninth, when do Launay • just failed to draw the phot. The tenth head Raw the scores' levelled, when Grattan drew two very fine shots close to the jack. De Launay gained an advantage of two in the next and maintained his lead right up to the fifteenth, when Carlton nccred one, with a iirm drawing shot on to the jack. A three and a one to Laurenson on (lie next two heads gave spectators the impression that Carlton would win. but de Launay's rink plaved well, and the margin was reduced. On the twentieth head Wilkinson bowled superbly and pushed dates' counter out to le'ave Ensom four un. Laurenson drove and sent the jack back, but Epsom still lay two, the score being lit—lb. In the last head Lamb sent up two counters, but Jcsey got un close enough for a measure for shot. Laurenson sent down a good shot. b"t pushed Grattan up to counter, and de Launay drew another close to the jack. A drive with his last by Laurenson failed to alter the position, and Epsom won. 18-16. The individual trophies were • presented to the winning rink after the game bv Mr. -1. Poscoe. preside? l * o f th" Auckland Bow'ing Centre. Mr, T. R. George, vice-presi-dent of the Ensom Club, responded on behalf' of the winners. The Lambert Cun. the Easter four° tronhv, will be presented to tho Epsom Club later. CLUB GAMES.
