COLLECTION OF BIG FISH.

PROPOSAL FOR AUCKLAND.

" ACQUISITION TO MUSEUM."

Among the collections the Auckland Museum has added to its possessions is a gift from Mr. C. F. Miller, a Kawakawa resident, of a record hammer-headed shark caught by him at Cape Brett. This, and the fact that arrangements are being made to send a record marlin specimen to the Wanganui Museum, led Mr. A. G. Lunn to suggest at yesterday's meeting of the council of the Auckland Institute that a start should be made as soon as possible to provide a collection of notable species erf the big fish caught in northern waters.

Professor Worley remarked that such a collection would be of the greatest value and, apart from other grounds of interest, would attract the atttention of tourists.

It was generally agreed that a collection of this kind would be an acquisition to the museum, and it was decided to keep the question in view, pending the transfer to the .War Memorial Museum.
