ACCIDENTS AND LICENCES. 'new south wales returns. (Received Feb. IS, .11.15 p.m.) A. and N.Z. SYDNEY, Feb. 16. According to the animal report of the New Sout h Wales Commissioner of Police the number of motor accidents in the State in 1926 was 1539. In these accidents 258 persons were killed and 4580 were injured. Of this number 144 deaths and 5660 injuries occurred in the Sydney metropolitan area. The revenue collected -under the Motor Traffic Act was £1,120.000, compared with £856,278 in 1925. The motor traffic licences issued numbered 458,441, an increase of 84,800 for the year. On Decembor 31 156,078 motor vehicles were licensed in New South Wales.
