PAPATOETOE AFFAIRS.
WATER SUPPLY FROM WIRI. TOWN CLOCK TO BE ERECTED. The possibilities of securing a water supply from Wiri mountain are being investigated by the Papatoetoe Town Board. It was reported at the meeting of the board this week that an inspection of the flow from the mountain had been made and that samples had been taken by the Health Department for analysis and bacteriological tests. Further in : vestigations would depend on the result of these tests. It was reported the concreting of the section of Great South Road in the town district, was practically completed and the formation of paths and shoulders would be finished by the end of the year. Several residents having promised to contribute toward the cost of placing a town clock on fcho public hall, it was decided to make application for a Government grant. The board granted permission for the screening of pictures on Christmas Day, provided that a suitable programme was shown.
