FISHING RIGHTS.
THE WAITAHANUI DISPUTE. Fey teleohami.—own cosrespo.vdent.] TAUPO, Friday. At the request of the Government Messrs. Te Heuheu, Grace, Marin, and Tuiri, representing the Tuwbnreloa Trust Board, met the Waitahanui Maoris to confer more fully with them in respect to the Waitahanui fishing rights. It has been stated that the natives are not satisfied with the present position and the new regulations now prevailing over the fishing in Tanpo waters, notwithstanding the fact that some of them agreed to suspend all further action in the meantime and to comply with the regulations until such time as they could again approach the Government by petitioning Parliament. At the last meeting the interested were still of the opinion that they had not been treated fairly, and they intimated that they would "pursue the matter further in thtj near future. But in the meantime they gave their assurance that they would remain passive and not interfere with anglers fishing "the Wiatahanui waters.
