AMATEUR BILLIARDS.
THE PROVINCIAL TITLE. TWO MORE GAMES PLAYED. The second round of the Auckland provincial amateur billiards championship was continued yesterday afternoon at Billiards , Limited, showroom, Roberts beating Brander. Brander, who made his first appearance la the local championships, gave a good display, and at half-way had a slight lead from Roberts. The latter played more consistently in the last half -and won. The best breaks wereßoberta: 25, 31, 32, 22, 33 and 24; Brander: 24, 2), 24. 33 and 20. The evening game between late and \Varren drew a large attendance. Tate secured a well-earned victory by 23 points. Ho led at the first hundred but Warren then drew ahead and led up to the 400 mark. Tate, by means of a splendid all-round break of GO. then passed his opponent's total, but Warren was not to be denied, and evened the score with a. 40 break. Both played hard to get the deciding pointo and eventually Tate ran out; the final scores being:— K. Tate. 500; Warren, 477. The best breaks were:—Tate: 23, 24,' 20, 29. 22, 21, 25, 42 and 60; Warren: 20, 30, 20. 27, 20, 62 and 40. This afternoon, L. Rogers will play C. A. Stevenson and this evening, H. D, White will play K. Tate in the first seraifinal. DOMINION CHAMPIONSHIP. - % . ENTRIES CLOSE SATURDAY. Much interest is being shown in the amateur billiard championship of Few Zea- 1 land, which will commence on Monday, August 30, in the rooms of the Auckland Sports Club. His Majesty's Arcade. Entries from all the, best Auckland players are assured, while the inclusion of some southern players gives the event a very open appearance. The table to be used is bemn f'ited with new cushions, a new cloth will be provided, and the pocket openings are strictly standard. Ab go play Will be permitted on the table prior to the chain pionship, all players will meet under absolutely neutral conditions. The preliminary hents will be of G66 up .and the final of ISOO up in three sessions. This year a change will be made in the bulla to bo ; used, crysta'.ate being chosen. Entries close < on Saturday. London, by the Auckland Sports Club stating " that the Empire championship for amateurs will be held on March 7. 1327, entries closing on Feburary 3, and inviting a nomination from the Dominion. It is highly probably that the Auckland Sports Club will seriously consider nominating a player, and amateur clubs and players generally in New. Morrison, of Pukcfcohe, late of Auckland, was p!ay«id at Pukekoho last evening" before a large attendance of spectaTothill conceded Morrison 350, and ran ont on an unfinished break of lVit, wlieri i±ie latter's score stood at 528. Tothill s best break was 231 and Morrison s 65. The averages were; Tothill, 44.6; Morrison, 13,7.
