MANAGEMENT COMMITTEE. TERM OF A SUSPENSION'. RULING SOUGHT BY CLUIS. The Management Committee of the Auckland Football Association met last evening, tho chairman. Mr. A.. Meuzies., presiding. In view of the recent suspension of Lewis, of Tramways, the Thistle Club nought • a ruling whether he was eligible to nln.y in the Tramways v. Thistle match last Saturday. 11, was pointed out by Mr. W. L. McArthur, the Thistle Club delegate, that the protest was not designed aa an objection to Lewis personally, but solely to elucidate what appeared to bo a debatable point. The chairman referred to the minutes to show that Lewis was suspended for two Saturdays, and not for two playing Saturdays. Therefore, the Saturday on which a representative match was played was counted in the. term of suspension, Lewis was accordingly quit® justified in playing last Saturday. Mr. McArthur said he considered a player was not being punished when he was suspended on a day when thero was no football to play. Other delegates said tho publicity alone was sufficient punishment. On account of Y.M.C.A. and Metropolitan playing a drawn game "last Saturday ill the first round of the Dacre Cup second grade competition it was decided to redraw tho competition. Y.M.C.A. and Metropolitan will reptay their match on Saturday, One: hunga having a byo.
