MANUREWA TOWN BOARD.
PAPAftURA STOCK ROUTE. The Manurewa Town Board jnet on Monday evening, the chairman, Mr. A. C. A. Sexton, presiding. The.question of forming a stock route north of Papakura was discussed, and it was decided to convene a meeting of town boards and borough councils concerned to deal with the matter. A commission was set up to decide what contribution was to be made by each of the local bodies involved and to arrange for special legislation to authorise the raising of a loan. It was also decided to communicate with Mr. E. D. McLennan, the member for the district, regarding the insertion of a clause in the Washing Up Bill in order to enable the board to cope with the difficulties probably arising from a reconstruction of the Great South Road. The Homai Ratepayers' Association wrote drawing the board's attention to the unsatisfactory drainage in the district. Members tljought the formation of a special rating area would be > the only solution of the difficulty, and it was do. cided to approach the Health Department. Permission was granted the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union to use the main road for a cycle road-race from Hamilton to Auckland in September next.
