THE CRANE-SHIP RAPAKI.
WEEK OUT FROM GISBORNE,
"NO NEED FOR ANXIETY."
[BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] CHRISTCHUKCH. Monday.
The Lyttelton Harbour Board's 80-ton floating crane, the Rapaki, which is nearly a week out from Gisborne, had not arrived up to to-night. "The Rapaki evidently struck a strong southerly wind after leaving Cishorne last Tuesday evening," said Mr. Cyrus Williams, secretary of the board, yesterday. "The harbourmaster thinks that in that case Captain Mack would make for the open sea, which would explain why the Rapaki has not been spoken by any coastal vessels. He says that there is no need for anxiety about her yet." ' Apparently some of the crew have relatives or friends in Christchurch, as an inquiry has been made at the board's office for news of the Rapaki by one interested in a member of the ship's company.
