December 4—Waikato Trotting Club. NOTES BY PICADOR. Native Chief, who stands out as the most noteworthy three-year-old performer of tho present season in New Zealand, is stated to have quite recovered from the ailment that necessitated his being eased up last month, but he will not, it is stated, be raced again until the spring meeting comes round at Addington in November. All continuing to go well with the eon of Logan Pointer, the prediction is expressed that he will have an attractive record at four years old: The American-bred sire Peter Chenault. purchased by Mr. J. R. McKenzie, and who is to be brought to New_ Zealand at an early date, is made the subject of much eulogistic reference in American circles. The following is one laudatory reference to the horse:—"ln no stallion the breeding world has known is a super fashionable heritage linked with performance of merit and demonstrated prepotency in a. greater degree than is to be noted in Peter Chenault. 2.43, the handsome son of the greatest sire the world has ever known, Peter the Great. Peter Chenault comes, from championship lines on both sides, his dam, Stella Chenault, 2.18,_ whose sire was that great horse, Baron Wilkes.
