In their first innings Surrey made 248 (Sandham 61, Jardine 79) and declared their second innings closed with three wickets down for 145 (Sandham 84). Hampshire's first innings yielded 182 (Bowell 97) and their second 118 for four wickets. In Hampshire's first innings Fender took four wickets for 50 runs. Yorkshire defeated Essex by 10 wickets. Yorkshire made 359 in their first innings (Rhodes 132, Oldroyd 65, Waddington 59).' Essex were dismissed for 110. Kilner took six wickets for 43 runs, Macaulay four for 50. In the second innings Essex made 254 (Pen-in 59). Kilner took four wickets for 75. Yorkshire secured the required 6 runs in their second innings without loss. The game between Cambridge and Middlesex was abandoned. In the first innings Cambridge made 89 and Middlesex 223 (Hendren 49). For Notts against Northants Richmond' took five wickets for 29 runs; Larwood five for 55. For Northants Jupp took six for 47. Notts won the match.
