PROPOSALS IN FRANCE. AUTODROMES AND RACECOURSES (Received 5.5 p.m.) Router. LONDON. Jnn. 25. A message from Paris says the prospect of the ultimate extinction of horses in! Europe, which has so far been rendered nugatorv by the interest taken in horseracing, is suggested 'in a private bill which has been laid on the table in the Chamber of Deputies. This proposes that a totalisator shall be provided at autodromes in future. It is claimed that this would bring in large sums to the State and also encourage the motor industry and motor racing. The Morning Post states that new pari mutuels are to be established on French racecourses. The long delay between the end of a race and the paying out of winnings has been a grave defect . in the past. It has now been decided to change to tho vastly quicker Australian totalisator system. This is a result of a complete investigation made in Australia.
