GOOD FINANCIAL POSITION.

• The annual meeting of the Auckland Typographical Union was held on Saturday evening in the Trades Hall. The president, Mr. R. Taylor, was in the chair."

The half-yearly report and balance-sheet submitted by the Board of Management showed the union to be in a very satisfactory position. The receipts for the halfyear amounted to £348 15s 6d, which, added to the balance from the previous half-year, £1129 10s lid, made the total on the income side £1478 6s sd. The expenditure amounted to £253 Is sd, leaving a credit balance of £1225 ss, an increase of £95 14s Id for the six months. Of the expenditure, £77 was for out-of-work, travelling, and mortality allowances. Various matters pertaining to the trade and the union were dealt with in the report, and pleasure was expressed that some firms had again given their employees a bonus of an extra week's wages at Christmas. The report and balance-sheet were adopted. The election of officers and delegates resulted as follows: —President, Mr. R. Taylor; vice-president, Mr. H. W. Woolf; secretary, Mr. F. A. Cleveland; two general board members, Messrs. T. Phillips and J. J. Lock; trustees, Messrs. F. Armiger and J. C. Chappell; representatives on School of Printing Committee, Messrs. P. J. Koefoed and S. Learning; delegates to Trades and Labour Council, Messrs. F. Barker, T. Phillips and W. R, Bungay; delegates to the biennial conference, Messrs. R. Taylor, P. A. Syers, P. J. Koefoed and F. A. Cleveland. Circulars were received from several candidates for the position of workers' member and the position of acting-member on the Court of Arbitration. It was unanimously decided to endorse the recommendation of the Typographical Federation to support Mr. A. L. Monteith as member and Mr. C. H. Chapman as acting-member. A president's medal was presented to Mr. R. Taylor, who acknowledged the compliment.
