AUCKLAND TOURNAMENTS. NEW YEAR COMPETITIONS. RESULTS OF SATURDAY'S PLAY. A number of New Year bowling tournaments wero brought to a close in Auckland on Saturday. Although the weather wa3 fino a custy wind made play somewhat difficult 011 some greens. The greens were a little slower owing to rain falling during the night EXCITING FINISH AT REMUERA. A feature of the two-days' pair 3 tourney at the. Itemuera creen was Richmond's sensational victory in tho final. In the A section Wyatt, Wright, Newton, Russell (Itemuera), Mitchell, Fist, Harper, G. Hosking (Carlton) and Stevens, Waddingham, Foubister and Richmond (Epsom), tied with four wins each, but Richmond won on the aggregate. Braithwaito, Jenkin. E. Jones, T. R. Georgj; (Epsom), with fivo wins, won the B section outright, Morgan, Goldwater. Mason and Pascoe (Devonport), being run-ners-up with four wins. In tho final George led Richmond 13—2 on tho seventh head. With two heads to go still had an advantage of eight. However, his good prospects did not materialise as on tho 20th head Richmond scored foul and with his last bowl on tho 21st, rested one of George's bowls to score five and will by a point—24 to 23. THE AUCKLAND CLUB. Tho Auckland Club held a rairs competition in which 1G players participated. The most successful skips were Hardie Neil and C. Muston, with throe wins each, wliilo Buttiinoro and J. Horsley, senior, tied for first place among tho leads with three wins each. MOUNT EDEN CLUB. Members of the Mount Eden Club played club matches on New Year's Day and Saturday. A progressivo pairs tourney resulted in wins for Bigelow in tho skips' division and Thomson among the leads. Results of percentage four 3 played on Saturday are as follow:—Short, Fieldhouse. Cordoa, Woolley, 24, v. Ovens, Moore, Dignan, Turner, 16; Stone, Rudman, Sheriffs, Hull, 27, v. Kirk, Wombwell, Young, Sargeant, 14; Smith, Hayman, White, fjeighton. 20, v. Gregson, Cave, Fulton, Ferguson, 17; Kinnaird, Biddingtou, Shorrifl, Findlay, 19. v. Milroy, Monk, Oatridge. Baker, 18: Hughes, Owen, Nairn, Fogerty, 21, v. Mohr, Kenniburgh, Gordon, Bigelow, 20. GREY LYNN TOURNAMENT. A very successful tournament wa3 played on the Grey Lynn green on Saturday, 14 pairs taking part. With a beautiful day and a fast I'reen some r.ood play took place. In A section. Nowton and Bell (West End; tied with Christy and H. Reed with four wins each. On tho play off of seven heads Bell bc-at Reed, soven to three. B Section was won outriprht by Street and Young (Grey Lynn) with threo wins, ono loss. MOUNT ALBERT TOURNEY. A two-days' pairs tournament wan completed at the Mount Albert green. Eight teams competed. The Rev. J. Lamb Harvey and, T. Kirk (Auckland) beat W. and E. Thomas (Mount Albert) in the final. Mr. W. J. Holdsworth. president of the Mount Albert Club, presented tho trophies to the winners. • ROCKY NOOK CLUB. A successful progressive pairs tournament was held by the Rocky Nook Club. Mayhill was the winning lead and Keatley and oidler tied for first place among tho skips. TOURNEY AT EPSOM. A pairs tournament at the Epsom green was won by Fox and Crabtree. There wa3 a good entry and competition was keen. ST. HELIERS CLUB. The New Year tournament held by the St. Heiiera Club was uvon by Brookfield, who beat Wright by 25 to 22. Six wins scored'by Crawshaw. Koefoed, P. White and Wright placed them at the top of the A flection and Chambers, Cahill, Lowe and Brookfiold, were successful in tho B section with seven wing. t PONSONBY CLUB. Tho tournament held by tho Ponsonby Bowline Club w&s won outright by Simpson, Mooro, Bruce_ and Letham. Their record was nine wins, no losses. Stottor, Mincham. Dick and Little were next, with aoven wins, two lossea. THE TAKAPUNA CLUB. A very successful full-rink tournament was held on the Takapuna Club's-green on Saturday. Six teams took part, and fivo rounds of 11 heads each were played. T. B. Rowe, Bonnet, Jones and Spencer, with four wins and a loss, won the trophies. In the senior championship, Collins 20, beat Galbraith, 8, while in the pairs championship. Murdoch and Hooper, 30, beat Coulthard and Ward, 14; Eckerlsley and Bull,- 27, beat Lisk and Morison, 18; and Buckley and Codd, 25, beat Perfect and Ogilvie, 14. In the handicap singles, Collins. 24, beat Ogilvie, 11; and Keay, 24, boat Spencer, 15.

Visitors wero present from Wellington, Kensington and Hikurangi. A high wind that prevailed throughout tho day militated against accurate bowling. J. Wilson anu W. I'. Delamore were outright winners in section B. and they contested the final wi (!. Crimson and L. G. Hill, \sJio had had to play off a tie in tho A section against J. Mauerer and T. Moorcroft. They afterwards met and defeated the Hikurangi pair, S. MeKenzio and J. T. Wood, whom they defeated after playing an extra head. Tho final provided a good contest.
