NEW TUG FOR BLUFF.

A PASSENGER CARRIER. STEWART ISLAND SERVICE. [BY TELEGRAPH. —PBESS ASSOCIATION. ] DUNEDIN. Tuesday. At a meeting of the committee held yesterday morning the Bluff Harbour Board came to a conclusion in its negotiations for securing a new tug, Messrs. Vickers' (Ltd.) tender being accepted. The tender is for £29,410, and is for a vessel suitable for catering for the growing Stewart Island passenger traffic. The new tug is to be equipped with semi-Deisel engines and will be driven by oil fueL The tug will have accommodation for 450 passengers and will be of 1200-horse power. It will have a working speed of 12 knots an hour.
