ST. HELIERS BAY NOTES.
POLICE STATION PROVISION. THE VOTE 6N THE ESTIMATES.
St. Heliers Bay figures among the pufclic works votes this year to the tune of £2500, for a site and building for the much-needed police station. The vote last year was £2OOO, which was not expended.
Much interest has been created in the forthcoming general election as far as St. Heliers Bay is concerned, by reason of the fact that residents will have an opportunity of voting for Mr. John Massey, brother of the late Prime Minister. Mr. Massey should have a strong following in the Bay. Mr. J. W. Carr, the retiring clerk to the Tamaki Road Board, made himself very popular in the district, and with the board's staff he always got on well. As a mark of, appreciation of his great consideration for them they recently presented him with a pair of field glasses. The Tamaki district will have its cricket club ■ this year, and will probably enter for the suburban second and third grade competitions. The move is an excellent one, and there is no reason why local players should not make a creditable showing during the coming season—the material is there.
