NEW WATEfc.PUMPING PLANT i The One Tree Hill Rdad Board met last evening, Mr, R. G. Clark presiding. The engineer reported that the work on the eastern area drainage contract was progressing favourably. Mora than half the work had been completed. Work on the. western area drainage contract was still hung up pending the legalising of the pumping-station site. The building inspector reported that 15 building permits had been issued during tlie past fortnight, eight being, for houses valued at £73fil, . 1 At the conclusion of the meeting the members of the board visited the pumpingstation to inspect the, new electric pump. This was put ip.to commission for the first time on Tuesday and is working very satisfactorily. It pumps water into the board's reservoir at the rate 6f 20,000 gallons an hour, a substantial increase on the rate of the old steam pump which it is to supplement.
