NOTES FROM AVONDALE. BY ARCHER. Several Southern trainers reached Avondale yesterday with their candidates for the forthcoming meeting. Those to arrive were: J. H. Jefferd with Rapine, Mimetic, Star Stranger, Joy King and Decoy Bird; J. Lowe with Star Ranger and W. Rayner with Anklet. The Wanganui Debutante Stakes' winner, Kilperon, arrived at Avondale yesterday. His trainer, R. O'Donriell, is expected on. ■Friday, i. In addition to Automne and Automaton, the Gisborne trainer, H. Goscombe, also .has the two-year-old Ngawati at Avondale. Automne i has grown and furnished considerably since last spring. J. Barry has been engaged to ride Automne and Automaton in their engagements at .the Avondale Spring Meeting. Mr W. Scholium is right out of luck with his horses at present. The latest is that his promising two-year-old colt, True Blood, has been lame and had to be eased up. The youngster is getting better,*; but it is doubtful whether he will be able to race at Avondale. Sunshot was withdrawn from all engagements at the Avondale Jockey. Olub's Spring •Meeting at 9 a.m. yesterday. WAIKATO HUNT CLUB. [by telegraph.—own correspondent.] HAMILTON, Wednesday. A speoial meeting of the committee of the Waikato Racing Club was held to consider an offer by the Waikato Hunt Club for use of the course at Te Rapa for, its Labour Day race meeting, on the terms previously fixed by the Racing Club. The committee decided to make an alternative offer. The terms of the latter were not available, but it is understood that their are very reasonable.
