WHANGAREI RACING CLUB.
SPRING MEETING. The Whangarei Racing Club's Spring Meeting, whirh is fixed to take place at Kensington Park on October 8 and 10, promises to eclipse the moat noteworthy of its predecessors. The programme issued in connection therewith carries prize-money to . tho extent of ;£2700, which is nicely distributed over 16 events. The Whangarei Cup this year is endowed with £4OO, and in addition Mr. J. C. Gleeson donates a cup of the value of £SO as a trophv for the winner of the leading event. From the programme, which will be found published in full in another column, it will be seen that nominations close on Friday next, at 5 p.m., and the same may be lodged either with the secretary, Mr. L. G. Hill. Whangarei, or at Mr. F. Sinclair Yates' office. City Chambers. Auckland. PAKURANGA HUNT. POINT-TO-POINT RACES. The entries received for the Point-to-Point Races to bo held at Smales' Mount, East Tamaki, by the Pakuranga Hunt on Saturday are all rojjnd of such a satisfactory character that it should only require fine weather to attract a large attendance to witness the contests across country. The programme to be brought of! comprises five ovento., viz., Members' Light-weight- Race (3 miles), Members' Heavy-weight Race (3 miles), Farmers' Race (about 3 miles), Ladies' Race (about 2 :miles), and Open Point-to-Point R-ace (about 3 miles). The fiwt event ia.timed to be started at 1 p.m. Particulars with regard to train and bus arrangements will be found published in an advertisement appearing in another column. ■
