STRIKERS IN CHINA.
BRITISH LEGATION STAFF.
BOYCOTT MOVEMENT GROWS. (Received 5.5 p.m.) Reutcr. PEKING-, Aug. 8. One hundred servants at tho British Legation, including some of the secretaries, have struck. Students aro picketing tho gates of tho Legation to prevent tho servants from entering again, and aro intimidating tho families of those who are still living inside the Legation. Tho students aro also paying the strikers one month's wages. Tho movement instigated by the students for tho boycotting of all British missionary schools and colleges is making considerable headway. It has now been decided to attempt to induco all tho Chinese in foreign employ in Peking to join the strike.
It is understood that General Wai Cliiaopu is taking steps with a viow to arranging a settlement.
