SALARY OF A NURSE.
A , SUBSTITUTE ENGAGED. ' COURT AWARDS AMOUNT. 'Alleging a breach of contract, Miss C. Ballard, maternity ; nurse (Mr; It ice), claimed £2l from Edward Sayers (Mr. R. E. Taylor) in tho Magistrate's Court yesterday. ' Plaintiff stated sho was "engaged for five •weeks at £4 4s a' week,. and her claim was for, wages for that period. The defence was that plaintiff was absent when required,' and a substitute nurse had to be engaged. ' After hearing evidence, the magistrate, Mr. Hunt, awarded plaintiff £l2 12s, or three weeks' salary.
