NOTES FROM TE AROHA.
GROUP HERD-TESTING. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN COrLRESPONDENT. ] TE AEOHA. Friday. A copy of a resolution passed by the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce was received by the local chamber in favour of a New Zealand scheme of group herdtesting, the object being to secure Government assistance. The president said that herd-testing groups were in existence throughout tho Waikato, but the dairy farmers paid so much a cow. A subsidy from tho Government would tend to widen the benefits of herd-testing. Mr. Cochrane said the present cost was about 6s a cow. Hamilton's aim was to reduce it to 2s or 3s a cow. After sorao discussion a motion supporting the proposal was carried. Mr. Christensen, agent for the Tourist Department, stated that the spring near the summit of Mount Te Aroha was to be j opened up. Tho track would bo put- in ! order. i _ln connection with the scheme to advertise Te Aroha the chamber has placed an order for 200,000 lithographed envelopes depicting various To Aroha views. Theso will be sold to business houses and retailors. A total of 160,000 has already* been taken up. An order phwed by the Piako County Council for road metal will keep the borough quarry going "for about two months.
