VARIETY OF CASES HEARD. PROHIBITION ORDER BROKEN. Breach of his prohibition order resulted in the appearance of Thomas William I'inncmore in the Police Court yesterday, before Mr. J. W. Poynton, S.M., and Messrs. A. J. Stratford and L. J. Pegler, J.P.'s. Accused pleaded that a stranger had presented him with two bottles of been He was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence in 12 months. Drunkenness and habitual association with thieves and disreputable women resulted in the appearance of Mary Dorrity, aged 49. Senior-Sergeant Edwards said accused bad a list of previous convictious. A man had been living on her earnjngs. A sentence of one month's imprisonment was imposed. A Chinese market gardener, Wong Young, failed to appear to answer a charge of ill-treating a horse. Evidence was given by Mr. Noble Webster, inspector for the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, that the horse was worked while suffering from abrasions on the shoulder. Defendant was fined £3. Failure to stamp a receipt issued to a Government department was admitted by Henry Bond (Mr. Kealy). Mr. Poynton said there was no doubt the omission was an oversight. Defendant was fined 10j.
