BRITISH POLITICS.
OPPOSITION LEADERSHIP.
MR. LLOYD GEORGE'S CLAIM*
LONDON. Dec. S.
Mr. Kamsay Macdonald's absence at the opening of Parliament occasioned comment. He admits that lie overlooked the time of the ceremony, until he heard the booming of the guns. He thereupon dashed into a Hampstead tube, and arrived at the moment the procession was leaving the House of Lords.
The Star says that it is generally conceded that after yesterday's speeches Mr. Lloyd George will lead the Opposition. Mr. Eamsav Macdonald has lost his old charm of speech. On the other hand, Mr. Lloyd George spoko with ease, good humour, and skill. His pointing out of the omission of mention of inter-Allied debts in the King's Speech secured him a swift Parliamentary triumph.
