WOMAN ALLEGES ' A HOAX. _ FBI TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] : WELLINGTON, Thursday. : • Six charges of forgery, laid against Prank Ansell, were heard to-day. Evidence was given by. Mrs. Flint that Ansell boarded with her last year. - Accused arranged with her for, a' meeting with r a man named McEnroe. . This never took place, but in the meantime Ansell | obtained \ £200 • from her, : and she spent £200 ,jn buying her' trousseau. McEnroe, j she had been told, was a wealthy man j and anxious to marry her, but when she | met him he had been astonished to learn ;of the arrangements. She had received letters purporting " to, be from McEnroe, which accused had brought to the house; also, she ' had • received a telegram signed with McEnroe's name asking her to marry him.; ; Accused had told her that McEnroe was "a lovely , man," and had i plenty of money, and a motor-car. Ansell had "borrowed money before he began to talk of McEnroe, arid later had alleged a partnership agreement with 1 McEnroe, ~ thus obtaining . further " advances.
