THE SEASON'S PROSPECTS. Most of the hockey clubs held practice games at the Remuera Recreation Grounds on Saturday afternoon. Great enthusiasm ■was shown, and judging by the good form displayed, the coming season should bo an eventful one. With the opening day, April 26, close at hand, players arts showing great keenness, and much interest is focused on the personnel of the teams. Several new players from outside tho province have intimated their intention of joining up with local teams. It appears that St. Luke's will be strengthened with the addition of at least one high-clans player. Fisher, late of Canterbury, who has represented his province, and also the South Island in the inter-island matches, has exr. rested his .willingneee to play for St. Luke's. Bromily, for many seasons a Nelson representative, and also a member of the New Zealand team that visited Australia last year, is now in Auckland, and should ho remain here, will be a tower of strength to whatever side he ejects to play for. Mr. L. C. Kent, who for the pnet seven years was chairman of the executive committee, has been elected president of the Auckland Hockey Association. Mr. A. Player is the new chairman of the executive, and a* he has taken on active part in hockey matters during recent years, his experience should be very beneficial to the new executive. At Birkenhead a practice game by the newly-constituted Waitemata Ladies' Hockey Club revealed surprisingly goad form by several of the players. Atleagt one team will enter the . competitions, and should acquit itself well. One or two of last season's representatives will be included in the side, and should strengthen it considerably. It is > understood that several other now teams are forming, with the intention of playing in tho ladies' comr-etitiona.
