NEW FOOTBALL GROUND.
WORK AT BLANDFORD PARK
ASSOCIATION VENTURE.
Tenders are being called for the construction of a ground for Association football in Grafton Road. Some time ago debentures were placed upon the market for this-purpose, and sufficient funds are now in hand to enable a start being made. ">The land, now known as 'Blandford ; Park," consists of . approximately four : acres, and it is proposed to construct a ; full-size playing area 75yds. by 120 yds. with ample accommodation for spectators. Terraces will constructed on four sides and- it is estimated that for next season these will stand 7000, but when fully completed there will be room for 25,000 people. Dressing rooms, 33ft. by 20fL, with showers and lockers, are to be built and the terraces in front of these for a space of 100 ft. will.be roofed and fenced to provide stand accommodation, The playing area, is to be levelled and drained by tiled and scoria drains and connected with the City Council drainage. The City Council proposes to make a road 40ft.; wide along the end of the park •across ; the dump, thus giving extra access to the 'ground. A right-of-way from Wynyard; Street places it within three minutes "of the trams .at St. Paul's J Church.
