PACIFIC CLUB PREMISES.
CENTRAL SITE IN CITY
ALL MODERN EQUIPMENT,
The contract for the construction of the new premises of the Pacific Club was signed yesterday, and the work will be carried out by the Fletcher Construction Company, the contract time being 18 months. The site at present known as Watson's Buildings, at the junction of Queen Street and Wellesley Street, and backing to Lome Street, has been acquired, and' the present premises will be pulled down to the level of the second floor window-heads. That will leave a firm brick structure upon which two storeys in reinforced concrete will he super-imposed. The architects are Messrs. Lippinoott and Billson. In the new building all the necessary rooms for an up-to-date social club will be arranged, including a large billiard-room and diningroom. Every effort will be made to make the new structure as up-to-date as sible, whilo maintaining harmony with that part of the existing building, which is to be retained. The contract price is about £55,000.
