FIRE PREMIUMS RAISED
. .». RELIGIOUS INSTITUTIONS. SEQUEL TO CANADIAN FIRES. Australian and N.Z. Cable Association (Reed. 5.18 p.m.) MONTREAL, April 12. As an outcome of the large number of fires in Roman Catholic institutions in Quebec Province,, the fire insurance companies have cancelled all policies upon these and have instituted new rates amounting to 35 to 40 per cent, increase on the present premiums. Furthermore, insurance will hereafter be granted on such institutions only if the companies are satisfied that the buildings present good risks naturally, irrespective of the possibility of incendiarism.
