ROWDY AUDIENCE.

VAUDEVILLE TRIALS AGAIN.

Hooligans in the gallery of the Opera House, Wellington, enacted disgusting scenes at the final performances on Saturday of the vaudeville trials, says a Wellington paper. The theatre was packed in every part, many being turned away. The programme was not by any means good, from the point of view of stagecraft or vocal ability, but that did not matter to numbers who went there, armed with supplies of tomatoes, vegetables, and other missiles. At the conclusion of the performance, the stage was a hideous sight, being littered with squashed fruit and vegetables. Many of the artists were hit by flying missiles, but no one was injured. The accompanist was in a shelter.
