SUCCESSFUL ACTIVITIES.

ELECTION OF OFFICERS.

The annual meeting of t.he Auckland branch of the Victoria League was held last,evening, the president, Mr. W. Lind Mitchell, presiding. In moving the adoption of the report, a summary of which has already been published, the president dealt with the general work of the league, : Snowing that the past year had been a most successful one, and that members had worked assiduously in the various avenues of the league's activities. He laid special stress upon the value of the Library Committee's work in conjunction with the Mayoress'. War Memorial Library in regularly consigning parcels of books and magazines to pioneers in the back blocks and to several of the South Sea islands. He made a strong appeal to members and friends to sunply more books and periodicals as the demand was always in excess of the supply. • Mr. Mitchell made feeling reference to the loss sustained by the death of 10 active members, including Mrs. J. ,L. R. Bloomfield, late president of the league's Red Cross Committee. As a tribute to the memory of the deceased those present stood for a few moments in silence. The following officers were elected: — President, Mr. W. Lind Mitchell; hon. treasurer, Miss Mowbray; hon. auditor, Mr. R. E. Isaacs; vice-presidents, Hon. G. J. Garland. Messrs. W. J. Napier, E. Anderson. H. Brett, P. Luckie, Mest dames H. F. Edger. F. Carr-Rollett, John Reid, Hudson, Williamson, and Miss A. Morrison ; members of. General Council, Messrs. F. Carr-Rollett, W. J. Crowther, H. Goldie, W. A. Harrison, Dr. S. A. Stride. Mesdamea P. Lnckie, T. Russell, W. Coleman. A. E. T. Devore, J. Finn, W. Lind Mitchell. J. B. Macfarlane, H. H. Partridge, L. Dawes, L. SV Rickerby. S. A. Stride, H. Haines, 'Misses M. Chapman, J. Murray, and A Fenton. During the evening songs were sung by Mrs. Cyril Towsey and Mr. W. Manning.
