BARBARITY IN BELFAST
SECRET FLOGGING CHAMBER.
POLITICAL VENDETTA. A. and N.Z. LONDON, Oct. 29. The police, on raiding a house in Scotch Row, Belfast, found a flogging machine and cat o' nine tails. The place was evidently the headquarters of a secret gang which was carrying out a vendetta against political opponents. The flogging machine was so arranged that when tho straps were fastened to the victim he was brought forward in a stooping attitude for punishment.
