Sir,—l have read tlie letter by "Friend of Domestics," and quite agree with her. Thcro is a great- deal too much expected cf one vro'mau in the colonies. I have bewi out hero for ten vears, and can truly say that I never worked so hard and incessantly in my life* tho work df a seven or eight-roomed house, cookins;, -washing up (no small item), for eight people, bread, butter and jam making, krd last, but not least, the washing for the above, both house and personal, for the princely wago of thirty shillings a week, is considered well paid. Then the outings, two half days per weok, tho &»id "half davs in tr.v own case arc from 3 p.m. until 5.30 p.m. Tdo nob wonder the girls prefer to work in factories, 1 or anything outside of a private house.
