The Republican leaders in the House of Representatives regained sufficient control of the tariff situation to force the passage of the Tariff Bill, with the dye embargo and potash duty eliminated by the conference. Though 14 Republicans voted against the Bill, it passed the House by 210 votes to 90, and now goes to the Senate.
